When Notting Hill local, Margot Worsley told Bimble about Barney and his buns, we knew it was one of those wonderful stories you just can’t keep to yourself.

When the first lockdown got going in the Spring, 18 year old Barney was at a loose end and started baking cinnamon buns in his mum’s kitchen. His buns were so delicious that he decided to bake some for his neighbours and he posted notes through their doors asking if they’d like to try some.

In no time at all, Barney was flooded with requests for his pastries. He couldn’t keep up, so he asked his younger brother, Gabriel to help with deliveries. Demand kept growing and Gabriel soon found that it was more than he could manage by himself, so each morning a bunch of his friends turned up with their bikes to deliver an ever increasing variety of buns all around Notting Hill.

Buns From Home was doing a roaring trade and needed its own space. So Barney took his fledgling business and launched a successful crowdfund. You’ve got to love that he did that and it worked! It speaks volumes about how much people care about independent businesses, pastries and passionate creators like Barney.

All very #bimbleworthy. Now the two brothers have opened their shop, just off the Portobello road. Their mum often comes to help serve customers and they still do deliveries as well.

If you know a founder story you’d like to share, please get in touch. We love hearing about independent businesses and the people behind them.
