Another bank holiday is almost upon us — a three-day weekend is the perfect time to explore the hidden gems of London that you might not have seen before. If you’re up for discovering some amazing lesser-known spots, Bimble has you sorted…

For the culture

This London Museums & Galleries placelist features all you need to live out your art student fantasies. Here are a few of our favourites…

The Serpentine Gallery — Tucked in the middle of Kensington Gardens, the free Serpentine Gallery offers an opportunity to enjoy some contemporary art displays. Stopping for a coffee in the gloriously futuristic Magazine restaurant next door is highly advised!

180 The Strand — Step away from the city rush in this immersive experience. Located inside a Brutalist building, the gallery’s become a bit of a cultural centre. The Future Shock exhibition finishes up over the bank holiday weekend, so make sure to catch it while you can.

Whitechapel Gallery — If you want to appreciate some art away from the tourist traps, Whitechapel’s the place to go. The London Open is running through to September, showcasing an exciting range of contemporary works from 46 London artists.

For the views

Spending a couple of hours in the sun is a must on a bank holiday. Choose a beautiful space to chill in from this London Parks placelist by @sloanecollection.

Regent’s Park — There’s more than enough going on in this green wonderland to keep you entertained all day long. Enjoy a row on the lake or catch one of the shows at the open air theatre. Later on, take in the sweeping views of the city from Primrose Hill — ice cream in hand, of course.

Holland Park — Tranquil Kyoto gardens and a Jacobean mansion make up what is “arguably the nicest park in London” according to Bimbler @anakanchelskis. Take a stroll through on your bank holiday and experience it for yourself.

Crystal Palace Park — Over in South-East London, dinosaurs walk the earth. Alright, not really, but you can find five huge dino sculptures scattered around the grounds here. Ideal for a memorable snap!

For the stomach

What’s a day out in London without great food? The list of incredible eateries is honestly endless, but @issyharley’s a bite to eat in central london placelist might help narrow things down. You could start with…

Flat White — Three words we love: all-day breakfast. Minimalistic Flat White in Soho offers those plus quality coffee. Or why not enjoy a delicious slice of homemade banana bread? Simply divine.

Bancone Golden Square — Sophisticated, stylish, and affordable — you can’t go wrong with this pasta hotspot. Fresh, handmade tagliatelle is the absolute best way to end the bank holiday.
