Happy National Europe Day; Europe City Break Inspiration

Summer is in full swing! Amongst all the bank holidays and summer holidays, National Europe Day is on the 9th — how are you going to celebrate? Cities, beaches or countryside — Europe has it all and is just waiting to be discovered! We’ve got some amazing Placelists to help you explore your next favourite destination.

A weekend break in Barcelona

A wonderful city full of art, parks and beaches but where do you start? Bimbler margot has got us covered with her Placelist “Weekend break in Barcelona”. From luxury suites to where’s best for brunch, here are a couple of our favourites…

Time to brunch! Before a jam-packed day of exploring, it’s important to fuel up. Brunch & Cake is a wonderful vegan cafe in the heart of Barcelona that offers amazing brunch dishes. Plus, they have some pretty delicious cake for you to take away and enjoy later.

Visit Gaudi. You don’t truly discover Barcelona until you’ve explored the amazing architecture by Gaudi. From the Park Guell to the Sagrada Familia there is lots to see. Margot recommends the La Pedrera which is slightly less well known, boasting the intricate and unusual design that Gaudi is loved for, alongside stunning views of the city.

Let’s party. After a day of sightseeing and shopping, it’s time to put on those dancing shoes and hit the town. The restaurant Negro/Rojo is a blend of Asian fusion food and clubbing. The perfect destination to unwind, relax, enjoy a meal with friends and when it turns late enough get your dance moves at the ready.

Beautiful Bordeaux

Another great weekend destination that celebrates the beauty of Europe is Bordeaux. With its wide avenues, neoclassical buildings and many wineries, need we say more? Sarinac has created the perfect Placelist that showcases their favourite highlights.

Try the wine. Become a local for the day and join the Rustic Vine tours. Hop on an electric bike to explore the rolling hills of the countryside, stopping off at chateaus to sample delectable wines. Not forgetting the delicious picnic and discovering the local medieval town of St Emilion.

Chocolate galore. Amongst the bustling streets and gorgeous boutiques that Bordeaux has to offer is a quaint chocolatier called Maison Cadiot-Badie. A wide range of decadent confections, guaranteeing that you won’t be leaving empty-handed.

Don’t forget your camera. It has to be said that Le Miroir D’eau is one of the most gorgeous buildings you will ever see. Home to the world’s largest reflective pools in the world you can see the beauty of this dramatic mansion during the day and at night.
